Its been a long time since I have been on here. I was big into cigars from 05-09. Ive had some in my tupperdor since 09 soaking. I check them every few months. They have been stored in their wrappers with cedar lining the bottom. It seems the tupperdor is holding too much humidity. The cigars are really soft, wrappers are sticky, and the inside of the wrapper has a nice film on it. I was running refillable packs in it. I changed out today to gel inside a jar. What is the best way to regulate the humidity in a tupperdor? Also now that Im planing on to start smoking again ocassionally whats the best cheap dry box to use?

Thanks

David

Whatever humidity is in a tupperdor is stayin as long as the lid is on. Sounds like your cigars are definitely wet. I would take any humidification out as you need no more in there. you need to slowly dry them out before they mold.

Beads are your friend. (65%) = no worries, done deal.

So what Im gathering is let them dry out (Im guessing 2-3 days) with the lid off or with kitty litter in the tupperdor then put the gel jar in there and and it should keep it regulated well or leave the jar out completely and just run the littler? I am in the middle of NC (just moved here) and the humidity from what I see runs around 55%.

Thanks

Just leave the lid off for two days.

Heartfelt is better btw.

You can use kitty litter if you choose (some like it - not that there's anything wrong with that). But if you are using Beads you don't need the littler - use one or the other. Beads are easier/better but also more expensive. If your tupperdor is over-humidified, I like lowering the humidity slowly. Would crack the lid instead of removing the lid entirely for a few days. If you have any silica packs that came with another mail order, they will also help remove some excess humidity. A pound of HF beads will work wonders once you get it straightened out with helping maintain a consistent humidity.

Any good unhumidified cedar cigar box or small humidor will work for dry-boxing cigars before smoking. Depending on the cigar and it's wetness, dry-box for a couple hours up to a day or two outside of the tupperdor.

Good luck.
