Okay for you FOGs Vets and those FOS a query...

I have a bunch of sticks I am still keeping in bags inside my coolers. So inside a zip top or 6 finger bag with the top open. The reason is because of space. Will these cigars not be adequately humidified? Should I not keep them in the bags? I ask because I took a well respected cigar out of said bag tonight and it split all to heck.

Thanks

Ken

Ken, I have some stored the same way and have had no issues thus far so I don't know brother...that's a bummer though. Where's your humidity at in the cooler?

Rock solid 65. I have a couple of big coolers. This one I don't have a fan in yet. I have an oust coming that I was fortunate to find on flea bay. I don't know if that matters or not. My temp has been running about 60 here recently. Maybe just an isolated thing. I will try another one out of a bag tomorrow and see.

Temp is more of a beetle issue, cold is better than hot. Cold generally (Ive been wrong before) lowers humidity.

Have not experienced any issues with storing in 5 or 6-finger bags. Try dry-boxing for a few hours or up to a day before lighting.

Make sure not to rip cigar while pulling oput of bag. I have done that several times as I do not pull them out carefully. I have thus learned a good lesson.

Get some empty boxes for the cooler and do away with the bags alltogether if possible.

Well I I had a local that would be an option. But alas, no local. Besides it is a space issue. If I were to put them all in boxes I would need cooler number three. And everyone knows that if you have 3 100 qt coolers, you have a problem.

Yep caught in a fish wheel, not rod and reel. The run is looking like one of the best in a long time.

Look I'm not trying to be a dick here.

First. What are you using as a humidifier?

Beads I hope.

You are doing a good thing getting the oust fan though.

You NEED something to hold the moisture. That would be the boxes.

As for no B&M around,no problem.

Order the empty boxes from CI they are 10 for $19.99.

Here is a Free Shiping link.

http://www.cigarsinternational.com/index.asp

It is much cheaper you spending $20.00 for them as one of us that could send them free to you would

pay out the ass for shipping.

I personally DONOT see you making your situation any better without the use of boxes..

Why waste the $$$ on the fan only to backstep and not finish the job.

As for everyone knowing that if you have 3 100QT coolers," you have a problem "

Nothing could be further from the truth.

YOU did not have the foresight to get a 150QT Marine Cooler from Wal-Mart for a mere $60.00.

I checked and that is what it would cost you plus your sales tax.I have a free shipping link for this also.

I have the aforementioned cooler. With 2 Oust fans,2.5lbs of 65% beads and alittle weatherstripping added around the seal.

It has over 650 sticks in it, all in boxes and has held perfect humidity for 3yrs. now.

My only mantience is checking the beads once a month for moisture and also at that time leaving the lid open to aerate it a bit.

As far as a hygrometer goes.Don't waste your money one one for $20.00+.I'll point you in the right direction as well.

If you have any questions let me know.I will try to help.
