Good evening friends.

I enjoyed a 1844 last evening and for the first time tasted chocolate, espresso, and a strange metallic taste. Didn't have any good stout dark beer so we were drinking bud light platinum! Could it be the pairing with the beer to give that metallic taste? Thank you for your feedback

Anything is possible. May have been something you ate earlier in the day or just an anomaly. Smoke another one and compare. Odd tastes from cigars has happened to most of us. One time I tasted pine air freshener!

So you are asking if drinking a platinum beer will give a metallic taste?

Just kidding with you. I actually have had a metallic taste from numerous cigars, especially when drinking diet Pepsi.

It happens. Years ago I had a bundle of Carlos Torano's that had a metallic taste.

In hind-sight, they were prob. just over-humidified.

I had three completely different cigars in the same day a month or so ago that had that metallic taste.

They were gifted in a trade or poker or something. They had been in my humidor for a week or so before I smoked them and I've probably smoked 200+ cigars out of that same humidor since without that metallic taste.

I assumed it was something that came from the gifter's humidor but who knows.

Ironic.....I've had a box of Torano Noventas that have always had that metallic taste and I've been smoking one every few months to see if they had improved. Finally about a week ago I yanked the box out of the tupperdor it had been stored in and set it on my dresser enroute to being disposed of, then left town. Today, on a whim, I smoked what I figured would be one last Noventa and it was awesome, sweet tobacco and a little chocolate, no more metallic flavor! FWIW, the tupperdor has been holding a steady 70%, apparently that's over humidified.

I got that metalic taste from the 1844 also. Really don't care for these things, which is strange as I usually love AJ's stuff.

from my experience, which is less than 10 of these, they need at least 6 months

the first one I had (about 2 weeks after delivery) was shockingly harsh, nasty, could be interpreted as metallic I suppose

had one yesterday that was 9 months old, totally different cigar, smooth med to full Nic maduro classic flavor profile - not complex obviously, but good tobacco flavor, hints of spice and bitter chocolate, and perfect burn with tons of smoke
