A friend of mine asked me if I could get him a cutter that would handle a 56 ring or larger. He's a "wet" smoker. A chommper, so when the end expands too much and starts to fall apart he likes to cut it fresh. I usually smoke 54 or larger and don't have a problem with a simple $2.00 blue Xikar 314 guillotine. But then I usually smoke torps. I think the X12 is larger. Can anyone help?

sounds like he needs to use cigar scissors.

I found with the real large gauge cigars, a real sharp pair hedge trimmers works. My wife's needle point scissors do well...but don't tell her.

You could try a "v" cutter

Get him a punch. On lagrge cigars (Brazillia Gol!) i make a series of about 5 punches, to make one large opening. I am also a "wet" smoker, sometimes, and I find that a puched cigar holds together a lot better than a guillotine cut one. But a Torp is the best for chewin!
