Looking to start a rubberdor using a 30 qt. rubermaid snap container. Will this work as well as a coolerdor? Tips would be very, very, very, appreciated!

No, for the most part I haven't had nearly as good of performace from the regular containers. I actually need to go get another 50qt cooler to replace my worthless containers. Go to target and it's $20-30, no big deal...

I have a 30 qt Rubbermaid container, but it is not the snap lid; it's just a regular lid. I don't have to ad any water to my one homemade humi device but about every two weeks and that's here in AZ. I'm very pleased with the performance. My closet stays under 74 degrees and now it's at 71. I keep mine at about 68-69%. I've also used the kind with the snap lids (pull tabs at each end) and they don't work for crap. However, I may go with a coolerdor' when I run out of room...

I use one of the 25 gallon rubbermaid tubs to hold my boxes and bundles...works great.

I used on a while back, but I had to drill holes in the lid in order to regulate the humidity. Air tight seals haven't worked well for me.

Will need ventilation holes like Bud said...

You dont need the insulation factor of a "cooler"..

I hadn't thought of installing ventilation holes. When the humidity reaches 72, I remove the humidifer. When it drops below 67, I put it back. It usually takes a couple of weeks to make the swings. But ventilation holes...hmmm.
