had it, got da spoon, not worth buying, IMHO............I've even had it at the famous old Absinthe House in NOLA............the coolest bottle though was teh old original Pernod bottle, from back in the early part of the last century was in the collection of the liquor store owner in Memphis.........Buster's, Stingray knows da place, but those owners are gone, Mr. Buster, has passed (who I remember, as it was the closest to campus, LOL).........and his son has since taken the bottle to da house, and I think maybe sold the store/name, not sure...............It was still sealed, ORIGINAL Pernod, with the wormwood, there was a little evaporation, but it was still intact!!! No telling what that bottle is worth!

Depends on if you want the BS "American" version or if you want the true "European" version. My opinion is buy it from overseas its pretty expensive but well worth it if you like the traditional style. The closest thing to traditional in the states would be Lucid Absinthe.

If you don't like the anise (liquorice *sp) taste don't buy it. If you really wanna try it then lucid has a ton of mixing options if you don't wanna drink it neat or the traditional way with water and sugar

+1 on this.

The one I bought had the spoon included.

I used sugar cubes.

Quite tasty and effective!

Doc, and CS are correct, but you better LIKE the Anise taste...............which I don't, plenty of other medicinals can give you a much better feeling, LOL

My local carries 2-3 french 1-2 Czech and the one Chris mentioned.

We used to have a spirit radio show on our local PBS affiliate. 1 time I listen to it and they had a distiller out of Bend Oregon who made absent and explained that the wormwood wasn't the problem before it was something about the process. So I do believe you can get it with wormwood still.
