Anyone know if you smoke a cigar with mold will it make you sick, not sick to your stomach, but bronchial stuff? A couple mos. ago I smoked a cigar with what I thought was plume, now I'm not sure, regardless, I have been fighting bronchial pneumonia for about a month now. Have you guys or gals ever dealt with this or known anyone who has.

I don't know much, but I've worked with mold in the laboratory alot... fire will kill mold spores on contact... so forget any notion you may have that mold could be growing in your lungs as a result of having smoked something with mold on it... I'm sure that's not what you are thinking, but just in case it is, that's not possible... hope you get to feeling better brother... praying for you...

While looking for some scientific support on this issue I stumbled upon what may be perhaps the dumbest study ever performed and then catalogued on the USC.edu website.

http://www.usc.edu/CSSF/History/2008/Projects/J1418.pdf

It only takes about 20 seconds to read the entire study... in case anyone wondered, the mold that was suffocated by cigarette smoke died because like all living things, mold needs oxygen to survive... the take away here should be that if you do have mold growing in your lungs you should smother it with cigarette smoke...

See a Pulmonologist, not your family doctor anymore; not an ENT unless it is really your throat (pharyngitis) which a family doctor won't be aggressive enough about. Expect an x-ray and/or CT to rule out collapsed lung, pneumonia and the like and possibly some blood work. Steroid dose pack and inhaler too. And, antibiotics for a solid 14 to 21 days. Make sure whatever antibiotic that is used is NOT one you have used much before- perhaps a newer generation drug, regardless of cost. Hope you get well soon!

Had the xrays, and I do have a partial collapse of the right lung but have had that for a while now, the xray showed pneumonia and have been on antibiotics since Christmas eve, also use one of those misting things with drugs in it, just getting real old, me and the illness, glad to hear that fire kills the mold Joel, so that rules that out. I am not coughing near as much so the regimine I'm on must be working, just getting impatient.

How old are you? What antibiotic(s) and how long? Did you get a flu/pneumonia shot? viral or bacterial pneumonia?

Pneumonia is an @ss-kicker. It could take up to a couple months until you have your full energy back. sorry to hear all this.

what he said.......times 100.....

I let a bronchial issue get out of hand in 1988, which turned into a 5 lobe full blown pulmonary pneumonia cause I was stubborn, young, healthy................and stupid.

Took me 6 months and several courses of various drugs to get "healthy".......except I ended up with asthma for the next 5 or 6 years............

Carried around an inhaler, went on steroids once/twice a year whenever I caught a cold........freaking nightmare!

see a specialist asap

King that prognosis does not sound good to me. I just sit home all day so its not like I could not go see someone else. Such a pain trying to get an appt. then you gotta do all the same crap you just went thru with the other guy, maybe when we get back from seeing the kids if I'm not over it thats what I'll do. I know its nothing to fool around with.

Was the cefdinir/omnicef the first and only abx they put you on? Was pneumonia confirmed on chest X-ray. In my area we have been seeing a large amount of mycoplasma pneum. About 25% based on the last report I saw I ask because what you're taking doesn't cover it and is a piss poor choice for most of what grows in the lungs unless they have a culture to support that choice specifically.

pneumonia can take a long time to recover from, so I wouldn't be overly worried about it. Keep the the treatment plan, keep your doctor(s) posted on progress, and pray. And DON'T smoke until you're better (with colds I'm not sure if it matters, but with lung stuff it definitely does.

I had pneumonia last Feb. Sucked balls. I'll be praying for you, brother!!

Wht79 It was confirmed on xray. Mycoplasma was what they called something I had three mos. ago. It was in my nasal area and ear in fact it burst my eardrum and that took a while to heal up. Needless to say the last few mos. have sucked health wise. That is the only antibiotic I am on. So some of you sound like you are in the medical field, should I maybe try and see someone else for another opinion, or just keep on doin what I'm doin?
