Of the two popular brands, Coleman and Igloo, is one preferred over the other for use as a coolidor?

If so, why?

Either brand will do good. Just make sure lid closes properly.

In a couple of cases I have seen the Igloo as much as $60-$70 less than the Coleman.

Also have noticed that in pics the Igloo has latches on the lid and the Coleman does not except on the split lid model. Did not know if this was a big factor or not.

Latches good or latches bad?

Igloo uses refrigerator grade plastic less smell.

I didn't shop diligently online... I went to the store and the Coleman was cheaper at the store...

I didn't know igloo used a plastic with less odor.... that's a good selling point... and if the igloo is that much cheaper it should be an easy decision...

I prefer Igloo...it HAS to seal though.

You could put weatherstripping around it(on the inside!!!!)as another layer but I just looked at them in the store and found one that fit better than the others.

I got the Coleman Extreme's they are cheap for the size, and the seal is quite good, maybe I just got lucky, bought both through Wal-mart site to store..............I didn't have any trouble with the smell, just washed them out with bleach, a little baking soda, and then I have my tobacco from this years grow to put in first, and sweeten the cooler..........

These were the best price, the main reason I got the ones I did, value for dollar, and as I upgrade, they will be great coolers still to use for whatever.

Currently using two of the same and they do a great job. I'm pretty much out of space and just exploring my options. The 150 on it's end should not have any larger foot print than the stacked 48's. Thinking I would like the vertical storage over the current cooler shuffle.

16 bucks for igloo at Wally world. No smell, great seal, no drain, flat sides on the inside and pretty big. Works great.
