I know TG posted a VERY HELPFUL thread about temps and beetle/larvae life cycle and with this freezing weather we are about to have, I was curious...

1. Can anyone top that thread with the temps?

2. If it is 14 degrees outside, how long would the "freeze" portion of tobacco beetle killing need to last?

Partly joke here, BUT if it was a case of "leave the smokes out overnight in 14 degrees and you're good" I would contemplate a "test" ya know.

Plus, I have a package ready to ship, and I'm waiting until tomorrow to take it out to the mailbox, BUT if a night of 14 degrees might kill off any chance of beetles, it may be worth it.

Thanks, although a few weeks after I uploaded those two files to that site I discovered that it's rather unreliable when it comes to actually delivering the files.

Mike,

Trevor has the doc you are looking for on his website now.

http://www.cubancigarwebsite.com/cigar-pests.pdf

14F = -10C so according to the research in that doc they achieved 100% mortality in 12 hours for eggs and larval, 24 hours for acclimated larval, 4 hours for pupal and 2 hours for adults. YMMV, the safe bet is to double those times.

Well once the humidity starts up in a couple months, the misery returns along with really bad baseball. Good luck with your beetle anniliation though.
