So I know this a total noob question but I figured what the heck.

I am in the process of seasoning a new 200ct humidor with 1 tray. Once done I will be transfering my cigars from my other small humis, currently I keep my low-end cigars together in one humi. Does it matter how I store them in the new humidor? Should I keep certain types together? Cheap ones on the bottom or the top? Wasn't sure if the location in which they were stored matter (bottom or top had any effect on the cigar). Thanks 🤔

(Also I perfer to the cello on as of now, if that helps with answers)

I keep mine (2000+) smokes in alphabetical order.

That way I can always find what I'm looking for.

Come back in a couple months when the 200 will be one of your "other small humis". OCD?

i border on OCD and all i do with my 120ct humi is group them together by brand. IMHO i do not think it matters if you store cheaper cigars with top shelf ones. The only thing and im sure someone will chime in on it, is do not ever store infused/flavored gars with regular gars,

The only thing ii thought was cool is, if i had enough cigars of one brand that were high end, and a spare desk top, i would use that desktop specifically for those higher end gars, like a strictly AF humi or a stricly LP humi. Something like that,

Generally i would say that i do not think it matters whether or not you store your low end cigars with better quality ones. Like i already said, i would be grouping them together by brand, then if i had a bunch of singles it would be by wrapper type. you can have this guy Forrest Price make you some very very very nice custom sized dividers if it bugs you that much.

Some of these vets may not take the time to organize their stash some do, you will get many different opinions on here, most of them will steer you in the right direction, i know i have avoided making at least two decisions that would have ultimately been a mistake due to their input and advise, good group of guys here,

If you plan on sticking around hit up the Noob trade thread and sign up for a vet, or jump right on itnto the Noob Pib to earn some trading cred.

if you have enough humidors group/store them however you like. Thatg way when all your friends comeover for a smoke you can bust out the Victor Sinclair humi and not the one wiith all the smokes you wanna keep for yourself, lol

Straight answer:

One cooler is mix of stuff I won't touch for another 6 months or more

One cooler is stuff I don't want to smoke anymore (troop smokes, trade bait, etc.)

One cooler is boxes that are smoking good now.

One cooler is trays and 'loose' sticks that are ready to smoke now.

One desktop is HTF's and 'special occasion stuff'

One desktop is gf's infused

One desktop is gf's non-infused daily working stock

One desktop is at work

One desktop is my daily, ready-issue working stock

If I have cheap cigars in any of those, I don't usually publicly admit it. Price of joining the elitist ranks.

I have two 150 count humis. I keep the cigars in each grouped by strength (mild/medium/bold).

One humidor is out and visible. The other is in a cabinet. The visible humi has daily smokes and trade sticks. The cabinet humi has keepers, special occasion smokes and ISOM smokes

Do what works for you - cello ON always.

The one thing you can count on is that your taste in cigars will evolve and change over time.

Jump on the Noob Trade. Catch up with Fishingguitarman (FGM) and get set up with a Vet. And while you are at it, search for the Thonginator - but don't say you were not warned.

Thanks alot for the information. I just wanted to make sure once the new humi was done seasoning I didnt do something totally dumb and F-up my stock.

@dstieger that is some organization and collection. Maybe one day.

@madspackler @Zmarkadonis thanks for the info and advice to join the trade circuit. I will be doing that soon.

As long as you aren't mixing infused or flavored cigars with traditional (non-infused) cigars, no, it really doesn't matter if you store them together.

In my opinion:

I am in the process of seasoning a new 200ct humidor with 1 tray.

Rexinator989 wrote:

Smart idea for reasons mentioned in previous posts. Whip out the low-end when your buddies come over. The are few things sadder in life than seeing a discarded AF in a ashtray with two puffs taken out of it.

Does it matter how I store them in the new humidor?

Rexinator989 wrote:

Not really, as long as they're loose and not packed in tightly. Cigars like space and air/humidity circulation.

Should I keep certain types together?

Rexinator989 wrote:

Yes, if it helps keep them organized and easier to locate without having to root through your stash. Good idea to keep the infused (dessert) cigars separated.

Cheap ones on the bottom or the top?

Rexinator989 wrote:

I store them separately. If you want to keep them in one humi, I would suggest "special occasion" on the bottom, "every day" on top. It's also good to rotate your cigars...but don't handle them too much. Some wrappers are thinner than others and will pop open/split during smoking.

Wasn't sure if the location in which they were stored matter (bottom or top had any effect on the cigar).

it also depends on how long you are going to be keeping them. Eventually, the sticks will start to sort of blend together - IF you don't open the humi very often and when you do you don't go beneath the first level.

If you are going to pretty much be smoking the stock "evenly", and some air circulates every few days or so, no problem storing them together, imo. Concur about the infused warnings

4 130 count or less humidors. One for Maduros, One for non-maduro, One for higher end both maduro and regular and one for give aways to non cigar smokers. Oldest ones on top.
