I have the heartfeld beads and the gel ones that you add the 50/50 to in the same 2 humidors never realy thought much about it. I read something today that this should not be done. I use dist water on beads. can the beads be hurt by this ??It holds good 65-69 any adv. or anyone else that does this?

That shouldn't be a problem.

When you've got something like the heartfelt beads that reabsorb excess moisture, you'll be fine.

You're doing the right thing by not using the 50/50 solution on the beads, but just in the surrounding gas it will be fine.

Allegedly the glycol solution made cigars taste "off" according to some.....

*shrug*

You can use distilled water on the gel if you were scared of this I suppose. I don't this being an issue myself but I'm a beads only type of guy.

Why not just get an oasis or something? Cost a little more upfront but they are convenient.

Thanks all I had all gel after joining boards I saw everyone saying great things about the heart/beads bought some for new cooler yes it is 150qt and put the rest in the humis that is how ended up w/bth. I am plan/on going to all heartfelt when X-mas bills are paid ALSO what is the MAX amount of humis/coolerdors most woman will put up with!!!

I use the "pillows" along with the beads in my smaller humis if I'm opening them more frequently. I just add regular distilled water - as I understand, the "gel" is essentially propolyne glycol where you would add distiller water to then make it a 50/50 mix but maybe I'm wrong on that.

If you used 50/50 mix I guess you would be adding less distilled water but I honestly don't think that's a big deal. Just keep the temp/humidity stable and you'll be ok.
