Anyone know why B&M's keep the RH higher than most of us prefer?

I would imagine since their humis get a lot more traffic than ours...

they likely have to compensate for that.

Probably the same reason my local stores ACIDs with all their other sticks....

not that i know anything, but i had to venture a guess, i would say, due to the travel from the B*M to the personal humi. could be a while, could not, its nice to know the thing isnt going to dry out in 5 minutes. i dont always rush right home after a visit to the B&M. but when i do.....

I have not been in a lot of B&M's but don't think I have ever been in one that stored acid's away from other sticks

The one I frequent has a separate cabinet outside the walk in for acids

I would think so. More traffic, means more RH escaping the units.

As already mentioned, there is a lot of traffic in and out of the humidor in a B&M. Out here in Colorado, where RH can get close to single digits, it really helps. Any time I think a cigar is over humidified, I just put it in my home humidor for a few days before smoking it.

I'm guessing traffic too. My local keeps acids out of the walkin as well.

Opposite issue where I'm at...

and still, the one "pure" B&M has their small walkin way too high....freakin amazon jungle.....but the best part is the 5 boxes of open acids providing a nice sickening aroma.........sad

Stop opening the door to the walk in Lefty!

Possible replies:

1) Depending upon whether they have a walk in verses cabinet humi, they do indeed need to have a slightly higher humidity to "recover" due to high volume opening.

2) Because of delays in shipping and frequent "Customs delays", the cigars often sit outside of humidity controlled environments during the shipping process and can be quite dry when they arrive at the B&M and need to be brought up to par quickly.

3) My main B&M stores Acids separately from other cigars, although it does keep other infused cigars with the main stock...not sure why...I'm sure that there is some possibility of "cross contamination" but in a high volume B&M it can't be too much.
