can a n00b's palate change in the course of 1-2 months?

I ask because I smoked an MOW ruination for the 2nd time tonight. Wow! what a difference from the 1st time i smoked one.

The first time, i remember thinking that this thing was just whatever. nothing to note. kind of boring.

Tonight was a completely different story. Started off strong, with a lot of pepper. The retrohale nearly kicked my azz. Then it mellowed out a bit and stayed good throughout.

So how much can I expect my palate and preferences to change in the near future?

Mine hasent stopped yet, really dont think they do. It's the same with liquor. What I like now I didnt like several years ago.

maybe a little in a couple months...probably a lot over the course of a year or two.

edit: that's why I'd be careful of buying too many cheapazz cigars early on.

For me it was just as simple as cheap dog rockets and good smokes, and the retrohale, like Mikey said it never seems to stop changing

Another lesson here. Try not to make up your mind after just one cigar. So much can affect your perception of it, that it is not at all unusual for later cigars to be different than the first one or two.

that's the plan. I try one and whether or not I like it, i try to revisit after a few months. I think 5ers are great for that

For me with liquor my palate has had a slow progressive shift. Didn't notice any dramatic, quick changes except for when I tried, over and over, stuff that could best be described as a shock to my system. Best example in recent memory was last year when my friend introduced me to Malört, an incredibly bitter local wormwood schnapps. I've never seen a non-Scandinavian who liked it right away, it's simply too different from what we're used to here.

After getting past the initial kick in the throat though my palate went through a huge change very fast. It's now one of my favorite drinks, and it spurred me on to seek out other bitter food and drinks. Really turned me on to Fernet Branca, and Chinese bitter melon. I imagine that your preferences will react similarly to cigars.

That happened to me with nica libre. First time I had it was last June. Didn't care for it. Had one last night (skeptically) and it was money. Between several months of rest and my palette changing I enjoyed it in a much more cerebral way. Do what you want. You are in growing pains and that is part of the fun
