Today I smoked a Tatuaje Apocalypse. It is smaller in size measuring 5.25” x 48-52. Shape wise, it reminds me of a baseball bat. The wrapper has a nice sweet tobacco smell and the dry-draw was mainly tobacco and pepper.
The initial third was dominated by that pepper I noticed on the dry draw and hints of what I think was cedar on the finish. Smoke output was modest. The flavors did blend pretty well…somewhat complex.
The second third lost the pepper flavor and transitioned into a solid tobacco flavor with more of that cedar flavor. Smoke output remained fairly constant. I am noticing the nicotine buzz setting in a bit.
By the time I moved into the final third, the flavors changed again. The tobacco flavor is pretty much gone and the pepperiness is back along with a flavor I can’t place. It is a dry sweet…but not sweet. My wife said the smoke had a hint of molasses to it, so maybe that is what I taste.
Flavor profile was interesting. I would smoke one of these again. I did have some serious burn issues though. Twice it canoed so bad I had to touch it up and as I moved into the last third, I noticed the smoke production dropping and the stick went out. Hmmm….
I can’t remember which brother sent this stick to me, but thanks. It was an interesting smoke and I do want to try another one.
