It will hold 65% for about 2 weeks then drops gradually from there and holds at 57% in the bottom and 60% on the lid and even if i refill the the heartfelt 65% beads, it wont reach above 60%. its a 150ct humi and its fully stocked. Are there any drawbacks from smoking the cigars at ~60% rather than ~65%?

They burn ok, but im just wondering if im missing out on something...it could be in my head, but i feel like the amount of smoke is reduced, and its a little less pungent....I have read tho that some of ya's prefer low 60's high 50's for humidity, why is that?

Edit, i I use a Xicar250 size rectangular humidifier to hold my beads...i say about 4- oz's

Does it stay closed for days at a time? Maybe a week? Without air circulation, you'll notice exactly what you're sayin. If you open it once a day, or two, and are having this happen, then I don't know.

I would say i open it regularly, at least once a day. some time once every two days, it definatly gets fresh air, Im pretty sure it has a bad seal, slams shut like 2 2x4's my main question is smoking them at that humidity ~60%

60% is fine.

Beads are more accurate than a hydrometer.

If you don't notice fast burn times, and/or a harsh, almost burn your throat bitterness from cigars that you know the flavors and length of burn time, then you're good. Smoke something out of it your very familiar with.

I know this time of the year I have to really stay on top of the humidity level in my humi's even with the beads. I'm adding water every 3 or 4 days.

Another answer is more beads.
