I have noticed with my last couple of purchases from CB that there were inconsistencies in the construction of the cigars I purchased. I recieved a 10 pack of Alec Bradley Family Blend VR 1 which are suppose to be a 50 ring gage. They seemed to range from a 50 to a 54. I have never seen this when purchasing these cigars at several of my local shops. The same issue when I purchased some Tatuaje Miami Regios. Now, tatuajes are a great cigar and yes they may have slight variance however a 50 ring gage and a 54 is quite a difference. The staff at CB swore they were not seconds however the construction spoke for itself. I have not had this problem before with the cigars I bought from CB but I can't help but wonder are they slipping some of these cigars into the mix.?!

My uneducated guess is that CBID has nothing to do with the cigars in the package, bundle, or box box that you buy. They buy them, store them, then ship them. If you have a complaint about the consistency of the cigars contact the manufacturer. If you want to hand select your cigars go to a B&M and look through a box. That way you will always be sure to get the cigar you want.

Thank you however, never noticed it in any box purchase. Only in singles and five packs and only a few times.

Are you certain that you're not winning samplers? I have come across ring sizes for the same exact cigar that differ very, very slightly from cigar to cigar, but nowhere near the extreme ranges you're claiming.

It is possible that you were given a wrong vitola during the packing process.

Thank you again guys but no samplers. It had to be a manufacturers issue. And with only 3 brands. And it only

happened once with each brand. I was very surprised. Just wondering if anybody else was having that experience

These are hand made products, the average rolling team of a buncher and a roller will turn out 300-500 cigars a day depending on the cigar and their skill level/speed. If they work an 8 hour shift, that's about a cigar every 60 seconds. Some inconsistencies are bound to happen. The cigars are sorted at the factory and packed into boxes or bundles as required, sealed and shipped to the US operations facility for that manufacturer/maker and then from there the sealed boxes/bundles are shipped out to the various vendors or distributors. I highly doubt that CI/CBid re-sorts the cigars. As much volume as they move, the stuff is just in and out of their warehouse.

Having variations of a few RG isn't uncommon really. Ring gauge is determined at the time of rolling, after that point, tobacco can swell or contract with moisture / as it dries, and with settling of the tobacco. Because of this, the rollers and the QC that walks the floor are the ones who check the RG of some cigars with a pass though gauge (a board with holes drilled through it) as the cigars are finished and still wet, once they go to the QC at the back of the floor, they'll only use calipers to spot check a few cigars that might look suspect to their eyes as the sizes could have already changed by a few RG. Depending on the factory, not all cigars get checked. Also, I don't know what you used to check, but if it was one of the the paper printouts with the circles on them, they aren't terribly accurate and 4RG is only 1/16" of an inch error.

Meh. No one is doubting what you saw. Just explaining the process. If you want to call cbid liars over what you consider a second and what they sold as a first, that's between you and them. I don't GAF really. I've seen some pretty questionable **** get sorted into the firsts piles at some factories, some of it certainly could have ended up in the bundle that your cigars came from.
