Thought I would treat myself to an Opus X I've had in my humi for about a year now. Love this size 5x44 maybe. This thing absolutely would not burn, had to keep relighting it, it got hot the ash was constantly flowering, it tasted bitter and like rotten nuts. 40 plus years ago I smoked cigarettes and this tasted like a stale cigarette. This was perhaps the worst cigar I have ever had, right up there with the one and only VS I tried to smoke. I don't know how Fuente could make such a piece of crap. The perfecion #5 I smoked was tremendous this was just horrid. I don't remember where I got this, but by all means save your money and don't buy any of these. Off to gargle some mouthwash to try and get this crappy taste out of my mouth. Shame on you Fuente's.

This ain't the first one Tony, I have had a few and except for the little #5 none were world beaters. None were this bad however. For the money they want for these things there are 500 other cigars I would rather smoke. Talk about a cigar that does NOT live up to the hype. wow 🌫 🤦

I think it's the one I sent you it was a freshly opened box with NO age.

Please dont take this in any offense lefty.

I know your very diligent in your humi perpetration but you may want to make a check list of thingd that could be wrong wit your humi. As beautiful as it is. Maybe there is a problem with a seal. Maybe your not using enough beads or right beads. Or not using beads at all. Maybe do what I do and get a well made perdomo legends humi (7 bucks in CBID) 25 count with 65 % Boveda packs. These are my smokes I know I'll be burning soon. Even though dub is a **** prick and azz hole he does have a large amount of great cigars in his dungeon and seems to extreemly knowledgable on cigars and storage. Even though he hates most humans he seems to get along with you so maybe throw some PM his way because , again no offense to your old azz curmudgeon ass but if the Xanax hadn't fried my brain i recall you've had a lot of cigar burn/problems. And not dog rockets but high end cigars. And on your income I don't think you can afford to ignore this situation.

Oh. And. Keep any cigar ROTT in that 25 count for a week or more at 65 Boveda packet.

I got a perdomo lengend humi for 7 bucks in C bid and it hold humidity better then a Eli Blelue humi Ive tried.

Good advice. I'm gonna use some of it myself. I found breaking up my cigars by brand and putting them in smaller humis(150 count) and less, I have less problems. I too got 6 25 count from Cbid for $7 a piece. Good deals to be had.

Lefty

I've smoked enough Opus to know that the Perfecxion X #5 is my favorite followed by the #4.Never had a bad one regardless of vitola.Age does bring out its best qualities. That being said........IMHO I would question that particular cigars storage conditions prior to it coming into your control.Sounds to me like somewhere along the line someone allowed it to dry completely out....devoid of all oils.We must remember that all people who store cigars are not as meticulous as we might be.Ever walked into or opened a stand up humi to see that the RH is only 30%............or even worse IMO over 80%.I have many times in many places. These conditions will ruin any cigar regardless of its pedigree.

As you can tell by my hold nothin back post last night I was pissed, since I was really lookin forward to this cigar. Unfortunately there was no exagerration in my OP. There were chunks of crap stickin out of the ash, some going at 90 degrees to the cigar. The construction issues are one thing but the horrible taste was something else alltogether. Sometimes my wife will taste the cigar before I light it up and after I clip it. Even she said yuck it tastes like rotten nuts, and don't any of you guys even think about going where some of you are thinkin, So it was not just me. My humi works just fine, RH is right, hygrometers are calibrated. This has to be a fluke cigar cause I can't imagine Fuente stayin in business putin something like this out. After I have gotten over the experience I may revisit this smoke but it won't be for awhile.

I hate to hear about bad opus.

Personally, never had this experience.

Have you tried an Anejo?
