so i have quite a few churchill sized cigars (more than I would like)

due to time constraints, i have started cutting some of these, in order to have a shorter smoke.

i'll cut 2.5-3 inches off and save 4-4.5 inches

the 4-4.5 inch part still smokes and tastes good, kinda like a petite robbie.

the 2.5-3 inch part is really "meh"

should i be cutting them into even halves?

thoughts?

(i will not punch the middle, clip the head, and light both ends just to save time 🤦 )

if you did, i'll make sure to find the time to smoke em without cutting them first.

(please, please, please, please, please, please 🙏 )

(they need to make a mooch alert smiley, kinda like the sarcasm alert one :-" )

Yah ever noticed a cigar gets more intense and flavorful after the 1/3 to 1/2 point, n00d? Some of it is heating up, but some of it might be related to "better" part of the leave in that section of cigar. But what do I know, I'm just barely less of a n00bier n00b than you....

he he, not that I haven't thought of doing the same thing.

Not that I haven't cut a cigar before, but sometimes they are crafted to transition. Thus, you're not smoking it as it was intended.

i thought about that too, but i've been cutting cheap smokes, so i doubt that they were "crafted" to transition a whole lot, or at least not as much as a pricier smoke.

o well, i guess i'll keep experimenting

If rg is over 50, I wouldn't do it....

Cigar should be at least 6 inches long....

Cut it in half, smoke the "foot" half first, and light the original foot end, put the other half back in cello smoke later, but not too much later....

I only do this occasionally on "cheapish" yard gars......

Why don't you just buy the "Double Happiness" cigars? 10 inches of CI house blend goodness. Got some while in the 'Stan, did have one taste distinctly different between halves about a week apart. what da?!?!?!?!?!

Not forgetting that the half without the cap will probably start to unravel and come apart. Even the gimmick one's sold to be cut in half have caps on both ends.

Trade them off for what you want or donate to OpFTH, but don't cut them.

You could consider smoking a portion, letting it go out, trim the all the ash back to raw tobacco, purge, and dry-box for later. Wouldn't suggest it for anything high-end but for yard-churches it may be an option over cutting them.

Dude...I like the edge...

What about those 'Winter Blends'....:-k

The edge was one of the first 'good' cigars that I smoked.

Edge isn't what it used to be but they're ok. The Old World is one that REALLY went down hill.

OR Winterblend is one that proves every dog has his day.

2009 Winterblend.

The newer one isn't terrible like the summer blend.
