I remember a post discussing how you would make your own humidity beads, and the additives you'd need to make it set at specific rH. I cannot remember where I saw the post (might not have been here). Does anyone have that info handy? It was interesting.

Perfect, thanks! I was searching for some of those terms but didn't realize the post was from over a year ago!

when I opened a bag, no odor of any kind.......

with exquisicat, I smelled "something"....not over-powering or anything, but there was a scent of some sort that I didn't like...........I've been very happy with the ultra pet litter pearls above

I am still using HF beads and kitty litter in tandem in some of my humis. However in my 2 bigger humi's I've switched to water absorbing crystals in tandem with a cigar oasis.I bought a half pound for something like $7.I've used 3 teaspoonfuls.Link below

I do not remember which brand I bought..............not sure that it matters really they all appear to absorb many times their weight.I like these due to the visual aspect.I look at them through the glass door on my humi's and can tell at what level their moisture content is.If you're unfamiliar with these let me splain.I put 1 teaspoon full into a 1 quart bowl.I added water til they wouldn't hold more.......I never found that spot. They just kept expanding til the bowl runneth over.As they dry out they will deflate so to speak. Now I just look at the level in any given bowl and know exactly when they need moisture.Left to dry out they return to a very small granular shape about the size of course sand.

As far as humidity goes they seem to run on par with HF 65% beads. One of my larger stand up humi's will push 67% for 2-3 days after I refill the bowl.Later it will drop back to 63-65%.....Works for me and I love to just walk by and know exactly where they sit moisture wise.

It's worth a shot but YMMV.
