Alright, so OpFTH has whooped up on us out here in Afghanistan pretty ferociously. I figure I might as well do something to PiB.
Nick and I had an idea, and I wanted to gauge interest in it. Many of you have seen the picture of our cigar band wall that we are building here in Afghanistan. We fully intend to completely fill it up (no visible plywood). Once we're finished with that, we're going to bring the board home and start a little project.
We're going to take this 4x8 sheet and cover it with a nice coat of clear acrylic to permanently seal in the 'art.' Then, we want to cut it into sections (1x1, 1x2, maybe 2x2....haven't decided) and frame them out, to hide the rough edges of the cut acrylic. Nick has done this on a 2x2 board, and it came out looking REALLY good.
Now for the fundraiser part. I'm thinking that we could set up a silent auction on here (or elsewhere if that would be against the TOS), or just a flat price on the individual boards, sign the acrylic, or just include a signed picture from a bunch of the guys out here to tuck into the framing.
100% of the money made will go straight to OpFTH. It will cost a bit to purchase the acrylic/framing material, but we're going to call that our donation to them. If necessary, I would be willing to coordinate with Todd to verify payments to their PayPal and then ship directly to the buyers.
Would there be any interest in this at all? This won't happen (if it does at all, depending on interest) until sometime in late fall when we're back in the states with a workshop to build in.
Let me know!
