Being that today is the first Saturday in May it could only mean one thing, the Kentucky Derby is upon us. Of course with horse racing comes gambling so here is my idea for a Triple Crown Pool to extend the fun over all 3 races.

We will ned 20 people to join, one for each horse in the race today. Once we have 20 people signed up (only established cbiders are eligible) I will randomly assign you a horse that I pull out of a hat.

We will use a 20 point system for the race today scaling from 20 points for the winner to 1 point for the last place horse. So lets say that your horse finishes 8th, you will get 13 points. If your horse finishes 15th you will get 6 points and so on.

I will post the standings after the derby.

I will then randomly redraw horses for the Preakness. Now lets say only 15 horses run in the Preakness. If your horse finished worse than 15th in the derby then you are eliminated. If only 12 horses run in the Preakness and if your horse finished worse than 12th in the derby then you are eliminated. Now if more that 20 (unlikely) run in the Preakness then all 20 advance and whatever horse(s) are left undrafted will go unowned. We will use the same point system for the Preakness.

I will post the standings after the Preakness.

Same exact thing for the Belmont as the Preakness. Lets say 15 ran in the Preakness and there are 12 in the Belmont. If your horse finished worse that 12th in the Preakness you are eliminated.

The buy in will be a cbid 5er and the payout will be

Most points after the Belmont 10 5ers
2nd most points after the Belmont 6 5ers
3rd most points after the Belomt 4 5ers

Hopefully this all makes sense. Below is the field for the derby today with odds and jockeys.

The first 20 to respond are in. I guess if we get as many as 40 we can do 2 pools but lets see how it goes.

How's in?
