I know people make humidors out of the wine frigs and coolers. Can you make a humidor out of a mini frig?

The reason I ask is that I work at a college and all the students left last week and they are lazy. Which in turn means there are a bunch of mini frigs left in the residence halls.

Just wondering if this could work. Thanks for the feedback. Please dont kill me on this one. 🇨🇮

load up all the mini-frigs and take them to the used appliance store and trade them for a wine cooler... maybe get some cash back.. 👍

I don't see why not. I wouldn't run it though. Compressor type cooling systems will suck out the humidity.

Yes...BUT you could put them on Craigslist and sell them to people that make kegerators out of them for their homebrew. With THAT money...buy what you want.

I used mine for storage during the winter. It was NOT plugged in. Simply another enclosed box to store.

thought about this before. Pretty sure that, unlike wine fridges, a regular fridge or mini fridge can't be set to stay around 65 degrees.

There might be a few newer units with digital controls that can, but for the most part, yeah, most can't without the use of an external temp control. Basically the fridge or mini-fridge would be set to max cooling, set the desired temp on the external temp control, and the external control will turn the power on and off to the fridge or compressor (depending how advanced your wiring skills are when you install) to maintain that temp. Same thing that is often done to chest/trunk freezers to turn them into kegerators and keep them from freezing the beer.

In this case, it's probably not worth the money or effort. As mentioned previously, better off just selling the mini-fridges and buying the right product the first time

Thanks everyone for the input. We donate a lot of the units to a charity for them to sell and use the money for the group. Kids are so lazy, wouldn't believe all of the stuff left in rooms.
