Units
It is best to purchase a Thermoelectric System. NewAir is just one of the many models you can purchase. You can find scratch & dent models on AirNWater regularly. Other models include Edgestar & Vinotemp

Trays/Drawers

Forrest is one of a few people that will make trays/drawers for your unit. Another is Chasidor. Forrest is the most reliable.

Trays (Forrest makes 3 standard trays)

Trays Sizes
8" X 13" X 2"
10" X 13" X 2"
12" X 13" X 2"
These come in 8-10 DAYS

Drawers(complete set up)
http://www.wineadors.com/
http://www.chasidorhumidors.com

Both are now at a 2-3 month wait.
The full set up with drawers is nice, but for half the cost and less time the trays are just as nice. They are created with the same exact material as well.

You can also get the cheap small trays from Cheap Humidor. However these are small and leave you with over 5 inches of room. That extra 5 inches can get you 50-60 more cigars per tray.(12.5 x 7.5 x 2.25)

Beads

RoasterDude (He is a member here. Just shoot him a message.)
If you can get RoasterDude to seam the beads for you already, it is most certainly worth the price.

TUBES are worthless. Every time you move the damn TUBE, bead residue gets everywhere.(If your just going to place it and never touch it, then this will work for you) The 2 trays are nice, but some of the beads started to crack after just 1 spray. Overall I learned my lesson.

Maintenance

Depending where you live, I keep both of mine running at all times at 65 and have no problem with Humidity. I have 5lbs of beads and show very little loss when opening and closing the door. Basically there is very low maintenance.

I'll keep adding to it as I make changes. Must say having more then enough beads, really helps stabilize the humidity after the door is opened.

Nice info here taps. I may be getting a 30 bottle to start out with. Do you keep the beads in 1 spot, or spread them out over the shelves?

These may or may not come in 8 to 10 days.

Received confirmation of my payment to Forrest on July 23. I purchased thru his web site.

The trays shipped August 7.

Sixteen days to shipping, then tracking indicates another week to SC, Estimated delivery :
Thur 8/15/2013
GREENVILLE, SCUS

So, my standard size trays will have taken 23 days, if the shipment arrives as indicated.

Simply pointing out that they may take two weeks longer than you are indicating.

You may hit it right to get them in 8 to 10 days, or it may take longer than three weeks.

YMMV

His mother just passed away on monday. He posted about it on facebook.

Also you have to place the order on AMAZON.com. This forces the 7-10day shipping. 🙂

Thermo-electric is definitely the way to go if you don't want to hear a compressor with coolant kicking on and off. Now, who makes a wine fridge big enough for my 70+ boxes plus room for 40-50 more and what will it cost?

I think it is more than just a "noise" factor. The temperature differential is greater with a sealed system (compressor and coil) than with a Peltier.

The increased differential - read colder evaporator coil - causes more condensation to occur.

More condensation=harder to maintain a consistent humidity level because you are taking more moisture out of the air.

IMO, the increased noise factor pales in comparison to the increased condensation factor.

Granted, I have never owned a wineador that was not Peltier. However, I had read posts by those who had compressor units noting the issues they were having.

If you are going to purchase - Thermo-electric (peltier) is the way to go.

Very True.

Biggest difference is the condensation issues.

Is the weight of the beads dry or wet?
