I've had odd burns but never had a burn hole like that. What smoke was that? 🤔

I've had something similar happen a few times. I had a handful of house brand cigars from one of the local shops once and about 1/3 of them would be smoking fine and then poof, a hole would burn through a half to three quarters of an inch or so above the burn line. I figure it had something to do with how the filler was bunched. Don't recall seeing any beetle holes in them.

Can't say if what you are seeing is the same or not.

Cigar looked fine before lighting. Was unsettled at first worried it could have been beetles. Cut it just beyond the hole and it only appeared to be an open spot in the roll. Burned straight thereafter.

More likely than not the burn through came from a portion of the filler that burned faster than the others. It could be a stem, a hole in a filler leaf or a humidity issue.

Not beetles. Anyone who has ever twisted up a few sticks of the ole' cannabis can tell you it's just a little channel that forms from the bunching of the leaf. If it keeps up, complain to the manufacturer, but as a one off thing, no big deal.

Besides the bunched filler theory, I'm wondering if this could also be caused by a hole in the binder?
