I doubt anyone started out as ignorant and noobish as me. I've got to give him some props to him for at least trying a bunch of different smokes. It's the only way to learn what you like and whats crap. What a long strange trip it has been. 🌫

I bet 98.2% of us started with White Owls, Cheroots, Backwoods, etc., and most bought one of their 1st samplers from that infamous T place because of all the adds in mags and newspapers. I know I did. 🌫

My first cigar was a Cuban.

My dad caught me and my best friend smoking cigarettes in the garage. It was a seperated carriage house style garage. Busted us cold. Said if we were gonna smoke...smoke something that'll put hair on your chest. I had to pretend I was coughing and not like it...I nudged my friend too...didn't want him to think we were liking it...ya know...it's a "punishment"...that was my first cigar.

Oh, I smoked "Backwoods" when I was in the Army...out in the field.

I quit smoking cigarettes in 1980. Started smoking Dutch Masters Panatelas from grocery store, etc.

After six months or so of cigars, stopped the cigars. One day, almost started cigarettes back, said nope - and bought more cigars. Did that off and on for several years.

Was reading the box one day, said 50 % tobacco! WTF! started looking around.

Gradually migrated to better and better cigars. Very gradually.

Still migrating to better cigars.

A friend and I stopped at a Martini bar in Dallas one night. He had a couple of cigars. Don't recall what they were, but they had the cedar sleeves on them. Yep, I tried to light it with the sleeve on. I didn't know it was a separate part of the cigar. 🤔


Edit: Oh, and I think the guy in the video had a pretty good haul for a first timer. I can't remember what my first order was.
