ZRX suggested I try Micheal's for gold foil.

They were out of gold foil, but the red looked pretty sexy so I got some of that.

I decided only to foil only from the band down, so they could take some moisture in from above the band.

Took me a while to figure out how to do it. But, I cut the bands on the back with an xacto knife and retaped them from behind with a small piece of scotch tape you can't tell I did it and man they sure look sexy. thought I might mess up a wrapper, but was really careful and didn't.

They look so good, I'm gonna do more🇨🇮

But yeah, those red foiled sticks do look enticing. Maybe after you're fully retired you can find part-time employment as a foiler.

The manager at Micheal's promised to call me the minute they've got gold foil in.

I'm gonna just about use up red foil on the cigars in the wineador, then when the gold foil comes in put it on all the cigars in the long-term coolidor. IIRC, gold does better on long term and red while sexy is not as good for long term.

I figure if I stay up all night tonight, I'll just about get the wineador done.

I tried these a while ago when they came out and not impressive IMO. Hopefully they got bedda.

Quite a pleasant surprise.

Didn't notice the tinfoil when I ordered them and thought Oh sk!t, when I saw it on there when they came in. Let them sit a couple of weeks.

Delicious the whole way till about the last inch and a half.

A delightful smoke, am glad I bought a fiver.

I liked it enough to buy a box, but probably will not because I'm uncertain as to how they will do resting for a year or more with the tinfoil.

It seemed almost damp or close while smoking. However, very flavorful and more than a little unique. Even so, I didn't do much in the way of relighting in the first half, had to do so more the closer it burned down from the half. Counter intuitive because the last half was more dry.

I will say that some of my favorites over the years have been at their best when I had to work a bit to keep them going.

A great one to smoke when I'm not doing something or visiting with others because this one wants you to pay attention, and well worth the attention.

An hour and 55 minute smoke sipping wine watching evening approach out on the back deck by myself - really nice cigar.

when I'm deeper into the five pack, I'll try to pick up another five.

First one was the only one that seemed damp.

I continue to enjoy them more than anything I have smoked, I only really branched out a good bit in the last 6 months but have been smoking a wide variety in the med/full range.

To me, these are slightly leaning to med in the med/full range.

Some what reminiscent of a LFD Coronado Corona Especiale, but with a wider range of flavors, and just a tad milder.

I was about a third of the way through and "ice cream" strongly came to mind. Hard for me to think that tobacco can have a "sweet" flavor, but it is noticeably there, and not in a bad way. There is a clear and continuing shift in flavors as the smoke progresses.

Remains delightful all the way thru. Have never thought I could enjoy a cigar this thoroughly.

Have seen people post to the effect that they want to let them rest but can't keep their hands off them.

That's how it is with me and this smoke.

Everyone has a different palate, so it may not do it for you. My guess is that if you don't retrohale it won't be that good a smoke to you.

YMMV, but it sure does it for me.

An update on these.

I bought a box that apparently was sitting in the back of the humidor and they were not dry but were "dryish."

Let them sit at 65/65 for a good while and they have humidity issues - they are not consistently humidified where the tinfoil covers them.

I pulled the tinfoil (bands came with it) and am now going to let them rest a good bit longer.

Still love the flavors. Still think the blender did a superb job.

However, I now think that tinfoil on individual cigars doesn't work too well. I notice that Bolivar ceased production of the Gold Medals. They were covered at the mouth, which would probably work better than on the foot.

If you have or acquire any of the Viaje individually foil wrapped, I suggest you might want to pull the foil and let them stabilize humidity throughout.
