So I got this new humidor after seasoning it and getting my cigars into it I found a small green spot on the edge of the lid where it seals with the box. Is there anyway I can clean the mold off without having to take out all my cigars. Would it be ok to just clean off that one spot since it's not inside the box. Id like some opinions on what to do. Thanks

Are u sure it's mold? If so ya gotta remove your gars.

U can get a fine grit sand paper and sand that spot. But you still might have an issue...that is how did u get the mold.

Not sure if it mold I think it is. I mean it's a small green spot. If it is then I got it from having to high humidity in the humidor

I put the cigars in there just last night so I don't think they have been affected yet but I will check to see and double check the spot I found and go over the humidor with a flashlight to check every spot .

I would remove the cigars right away if you're sure it's mold. Like kombat said, check the cigars for mold.

Do you know where the RH is? Is it high? If it is, let it stay open for a day.

Once you're sure the box isn't over saturated, wipe it down with rubbing alcohol. Don't soak it with the stuff, just lightly apply it making sure you miss nothing. Then keep it open for another day.

After that, slowly bring it back up to the 65-68 RH range. With your cigars in it is fine.

I'm no veteran, but I went through this with a brand new humi just a few months ago. Only, I bought it from cbid and it arrived with mold. Returned that one, and the second had the same problem so I just decided to correct it myself. Worked great.

Good advice!

Again your cigars should be ok. Just put them in a gallon zip lock bag for now. Buy a boveda pk or two, ask you local if they sell them. Put them in the zip lock bag with your stogies.

Clean your humi good with distilled water. Spot clean the questioned mold area with a Q tip and rubbing alcohol. Let it sit open & air dry. Then re season the humi again with distilled water. Give it a day or 3 lol then if the spot is gone your good. If your using green foam or gel, throw them away ASAP.
Use beads or boveda pk's and you won't have humidity problems going forward

Yes, those green foam blocks are infamous for harboring mold. Toss it if you have it.

Beads rule.

sounds like you're saying the green spot was on the seal of the humidor and not inside the humidor...

if that's the case, it either

a) isn't mold or '

b) you dripped water on your humidor seal without noticing, and the small drop turned into a small spot of either mold or mildew...

if it was mold, it probably died right away (no oxygen in the humidor seal), leaving you with a small green stain on the wood....

Tea tree oil works great for killing mold, germs bacteria. Mix about 10-15 drops of tea tree oil with a cup of water. Put it in a spray bottle and shake well before spraying infected areas.
