I can't believe how fast time is flying. Anyhow, got a nice line up for tonight after work:

So... tonight was not a typical night at the Vets Hall.

I got off work at midnight and headed down the road on the bicycle. As I pull in to the Vets Hall there were 4 bikes there. I pulled in and went inside and 4 of my friends were there. One of them is PCSing in a couple of days, so they were having a little send off party for him. The guy leaving is a very smart Systems Administrator guy.

I grabbed a Kona Fire Rock and went back outside to the patio and fired up the Luchador. That is a very good cigar.

After a while they all came out on the patio and and soon they all started leaving. But, one guy, a guy that was one of the first guys I ever met out here, stayed behind.

This guy grew up out here in the Marshall Islands and was very instrumental in helping me get acclimated into the local IT world when I first got here back in 2005. He's a very smart, industrious kinda guy. Back in about 2008 he, and a few other Marshallese guys, got into some sort of program and they all joined the U.S. Army. Of course, their hopes and dreams were about becoming U.S. citizens with all of the benefits that involves... compared to their current existence.

So, my friend joins the army and becomes a Combat Medic. As we sat there and chatted about old times, he opened up to me about some of his experiences. I just sat there and became a good listener. He talked about his deployments to Afghanistan and some of his good experiences... and some of his bad experiences as a combat medic. The conversation went in a direction that I had to say, well, your medic bag was not always a miracle bag. He had his own ideas about that.

During this time I smoked up that Camacho and the San Cristobal, but any thoughts about those had no value considering the conversation we were having. Now, although he is doing pretty good, there are still some stupid bureaucracy issues he is having to deal with regarding what he was promised and regarding his family, which is still in the states.

He took off about 3:00AM and I sat there thinking about our conversations. He's a good man to know.

I wasn't ready to go home at that point, so I fired up a Blanco American Legion cigar I had put in the humidor and grabbed another Kona.

All in all, it was very good night and all of the cigars were top notch.

Hey.. chow hall opens in a few minutes... might as well go get some breakfast...
