The Carvair was built by Freddie Laker as a car carrier that offered London to Paris service. They typically carried 5 cars and 20 passengers. They took WW2 surplus DC-4's and added a DC-6 tail for stability. in 1996 I saw one land at KATL that was being operated by a cargo outfit, Acadamy Airways. Shortly after that, Acadamy had a failed take-off in Griffin, GA and I believe they ceased operations shortly after that.
