I understand , now that there is a "thaw" in relations between Cuba and the United States, that small purchases of Cuban cigars will be allowed. Does anyone know if this is true????

Sorta kinda but not really for average Joe.

Can bring back $400 worth from your trip to Cuba but $100 combined value on alcohol and tobacco. But still off limits to tourists, so unless you're on a family, educational or humanitarian visit, no dice.

Not sure if imports from other countries are affected, not like it makes a lick of difference though.

Travel restrictions have been lifted, so Americans who visit the island can bring home up to $100 of Cuban rum/cigars for personal consumption, not resale. The embargo still stands, but IMHO, may not be enforced as vigorously...

Hopefully this is just the jumping off point and the restrictions will be lifted more and more in the coming months/years. The counterfeiters will be having a hay-day now though. Keep a good eye and be wary.

I hope not. I have a hard time imagining a post-embargo world in which Cuban cigars are either better quality or cheaper. I think the embargo is ridiculous geo-political policy, but I think its good for cigar smokers.
