Apparently my uncle no longer does the cigar thing and gave me three humidors he isn't using any longer. The big cherry one and the small Monte one have great seals other one not so good. All are filled with velcro and leftover adhesive patches. Anyone know a good way to remove the adhesive without chemicals that will harm my cigars? All the humidifiers look like they may have molded athe one point but I see no mold evidence in the wood. What's best way to ensure no old mold? Good thing I got this because I just filled up my Tupperware even after the new mow humidor...

Use alchohol to remove the sticky stuff and some fine sand paper to buff away any mold stains.

On any used humidor I would wipe them out w an alchohol dampned clean sponge, leave the lids open and let them air dry. Then re-season them with distilled water on another new sponge.

Damnest thing is you can't see mold spores. Those old humidifiers might be loaded with mold.

Also If you can't clean those humidifiers I'd toss em.

I'd probably toss them anyways just to be safe. Get some bovedas and be done w/ it.

Humidors will be fine so long as you keep it under 70

Any green foam stuff or whatever other humidification devices are there, toss em and buy HF beads or Bovedas.

I'd probably toss them anyways just to be safe. Get some beads and be done w/ it.

My current thought on beads is too much footprint compared to boveda. What's best container to put them in and minimize footprint?

Put them in a nylon (pantyhose) and tie it off tight, clip off the excess. Use a zip tie and a zip tie mounting square and you can mount it right to the underside of the lid, or Heartfelt has bead tubes that don't take up much space.

In my singles humidor I have a cigar box well perforated and wrapped in some pantyhose with 1.5lbs beads. does eat up a good amount of space, but I've never come close to filling it up. If it did get full, I'd consider switching to Bovedas or buying some bead tubes.

The other humidor, for box storage, has 1.5lbs beads in pantyhose allowing them to be placed in any void without complicating cigar box Tetris.

I keep a half pound in my desktop in one of the HF nylon bags. Probably reduced space by 6-8 cigars at most.

Well for now I got a brick of bovedas but maybe I need to start experimenting with these beads on one of the new (old) humis.

For example, the 69% bovedas keep my box right at 65-66% during winter it would appear. Would I want 70% beads assuming that it will drop a few % RH?

I'd trust the Bovedas were holding 69 as labelled and your hygrometer is off. Or your humidor leaks and you're wasting money on Bovedas.
