Louie scared the hell out of me last night.

Around 8 pm he jumped up startled then started making really quick movements like he does while chasing a fly.

He kept doing so and wouldn't come or sit or any of his normal responses. He wouldn't sleep and just sat there looking around iradically at something that wasn't there.

I stayed up until around 3:30 or 4 watching him. No vets were open. First thought was he ate something bad, then stroke then seizure. I fell asleep around 4 then woke at 6:30 and he was still bizarro.

Was going to take him to the urgent clinic but around 9 he seemed to shake it.

Don't know what happened but he's fine now. I didn't realize how much I love that dog even though he's a pai in the ass.

Ever have anything like that with your huskys?

Jack I called the urgent care this morning and they told me to just watch him. He seems fine now.

They thought he likely ingested medicine of some sort (unlikely, not much around here) or it was neurological. Scary.

The only thing going on with him now is he keeps wanting to go outside, keeps trying to poop, but can't go. Makes me think he did eat something.

T, we have never had anything like that occur. However, our first Husky, Kody began having seizures at the age of two. He was diagnosed with epilepsy and we had to medicate him twice a day for the next 7.5 years until we had to put him down due to cancer. The effects of hie seizures would normally last a couple of hours and during that time he would be very sluggish and unsteady. I will add that once we got him on his meds we never saw evidence of another seizure.

I do recommend that you get Louie checked sooner than later by your vet. Hopefully this was a onetime deal and please keep us posted as you learn more.

Good luck!

He had another smaller event yesterday and another this morning. We put him on phenobarbital.

Interesting note, when I went to pick up 120 pills from the vet they wanted $82. I happened to know this is a cheap drug with no brand name anymore so questioned the receptionist. She said that is a pretty cheap price. I said I wanted to talk to the vet because I had another question.

When the vet came out and answered my othe question, I happened to mention that the medicine was really expensive to be giving him every month possibly for the rest of his life what I would do it if that's what it had to cost. I then said this is a generic and usually aren't generics at places like Walmart 10 or 15 bucks.

He got out his iPhone and accessed an app called goodrx. It compares drug costs at the major stores. Turns out CVS sold it for $11.99. He called it in there.

Worried about Louie though. Not to mention my mom who is still in the hospital.
