Dumbest thing I have ever heard and the score was a 38 point difference for crying out loud.

I think it was actually the Colts who were deflated yesterday.

USC was busted doing this a couple years ago. Evidently it really helps in the passing game.

Knowing about that, the thought actually crossed my mind, yesterday cause there was a point where it took a really long time to get the scrimmage ball into play instead of the kicking ball.

With that said, it doesn't do anything for the running game, and Indy couldn't tackle Bount to save their lives. No doubt who the better team was yesterday.

The officials control which balls are used.

This would be funny if it wasn't pathetic.

Check into that a little more. Each team has balls they use, there is no universal "game ball" in foot ball. Some QB's want one that is really worn down, some only slightly worn down. Kickers use a different ball entirely.

Officials make the swap with the ball boys, but they don't "control" which balls are used at all. The teams control them.

this may be worth waiting on to learn what is real and how it may have helped...but those deflated balls sure seemed to bounce just as high as "legal" balls do when the Pats spiked them after touchdowns.

maybe they switched balls for spiking?

Each team gets 24 footballs. Point is... the officials handle every ball before it is put in play. If it comes in from the sideline, it goes to the official... who has his hot little hands on it before it ever gets put into play.

Yes the official handles the ball before it gets put into play. Do you really think he'd notice if it was a pound light on air?

I don't know if the Patriots did this or not. I do know the University of Spoiled Children, got busted a couple of years ago.

I don't think it had any impact on yesterdays game, as again, it helps the passing game, but the running game is what killed Indy. . .

Um... Walt Anderson threw a ball out and replaced it with another one to start the third quarter after the Pats returned the second half kick... so, yeah. This is where the allegations are coming from.

I said it once but Harbugh,Ravens...said they were cheating .I think thats good enough for me...They could have been playing with cinderblocks and still would have been same outcome....I am surprised that if balls have been altered in the past that the officials don't control the balls though...
