A few years ago, a group I belong to asked me to be in charge of the annual cigar social we hold on Labor Day. Not being a cigar person, I jumped on a pipe dot com site and bought about 3 bundles of hand made seconds. Everyone was happy.

Last year, I decided to upgrade. I found the mothership and bought brand name hand rolled premium cigars! OK, they were Gurkhas. I didn't know better. Besides, I think it was Trish I was talking to on the phone and she unloaded about 4 cases of Gurkhas on me. Actually I was happy. I think I paid something like 40 bucks. Believe it or not, everyone else was happy, even being Gurkhas, they were better than the no-name stuff I had been pushing for the last few years.

Since joining this site, my knowledge of cigars has improved a little...OK, a lot. I already have next year's social cigars resting comfortably in a Coolidor. Next year's selection will definitely be a true upgrade. I am looking forward to it already.

I was sitting here think about this cigar endeavor I seemed to have gotten on. I never thought of it as a hobby. I got this week's care package from Trish and Shana. I had to shift cigars from one tuppidor to another because of the aging process. Multiple tuppidors and an aging schedule? Yeah.

I also got a package from a bet (Thanks, Illinichaser!). I pulled out some T52's to make room in my display humidor for some new cigars I didn't have in my collection. WTF? Replacing T-52's?

I love this hobby!

For to long it's not a hobby, it's an obsession.

I joined this site 2 months ago tomorrow. I've upgraded tupperdors 3x in that time period with plenty of space in a 56QT for now. Whoever told me to buy a cooler on day 1 was way right.....

Déjà vu

Before landing here almost 3 years ago, my storage was limited to a 50 count which served me well for `25 years.

Since then, I added a 300 count. When that filled, I added a 66 quart tuppador. Then a couple months ago I added a 2000 count tower.

What's next?

My wife actually mentioned about lining one of our closets with Spanish cedar and turning it into a humidor. Gosh, I love that woman. I am trying to resist.

An obsession without any doubt. I finally said enough at the end of last year, so I'm done adding storage capacity. I've smoked most of the dog rockets and yard gars that were over a year old, but I'm sure there are several more buried in storage. The real problem is to stay away from buying any more.
Maybe I'll stop bidding next week.
