Glad I moved away in '06. Could not wait to give away the snow shovels and sell the snowblower.

Hope it is dry and light snow. Heavy wet snow = heart attack snow.

Good luck.

Ahh, Boston in January. I'll never forget how many times a group of broke sailors stumbled down Commonwealth Ave as we trudged through the snow from Kenmore Square at 2 AM in the morning on our way back to Commercial Ave where we climbed down the ladder to the subway tracks and walked along them back under the tunnel to East Boston where we climbed out and finished our hike at the East Boston Shipyards. IIRC, it would take us about 2 1/2 hours.

Yeah, it was a nice hike. But, we were always pretty hammered. We did damn near every night for a month and a half. We were a tight group. There was Larry from Austin, TX; Shane from Maggie Valley, NC; Sully from Weymouth, MA and me.

Our day would start out needle gunning the forward chain locker. We'd skip lunch and take a nap. Our BM3 would wake us up right before it was time to turn to. We'd needle gun until the work day ended then showed up and eat dinner. Afterwards, we'd take a 3-4 hour nap.

Then we'd get up and walk to McDonald's and buy large cokes. Then through the alley to Sullivan's liquor store to get rum. We'd pour about half the coke out top the cups off with rum. Then we'd climb the stairs to the subway station which was overhead. From there we would ride 13 stops to Kenmore Square. By the time we got off the subway we'd have a pretty goo buzz going. It was way cheaper than buying too many drinks at the bar.

We'd hang out a few hours with a group of girls that went to one of the all girl colleges on Commonweath, the college's name escapes me. Around 2 or 3 we'd start our walk back to the ship. We'd get there right about reville and still drunk. Change into our work uniforms, eat breakfast and head to the chain locker.

Lather, rinse and repeat daily.

Yep the Rat was there. We used to hang out at Nicely, Nicely / Celebrations. There was also another club around the corner towards Fenmore called the Metro or something, IIRC.

Wow! Two weeks w/o power is a good one especially during winter.

We had 7 days w/o power back in 93/94 during the ice storm that hit MD and the mid Atlantic region. It was actually pretty cool at night being completely dark with only the fire going in the fire place and hearing the tree tops crashing down from all the ice. It was so cold The freezer never thawed.

That was the first and last time I can remember the Chesapeake Bay comepletely frozen from Western to Eastern

Shore.

Hopefully you guys will be safe and no long time power outages.

Named storms seem silly to me.

Hope everyone in the path of this storm stays safe.

I hear we might get lucky and get dryer snow around here. Should be a wild looking landscape when over as th ewind will create nearly bare spots and others that could be 5 feet or more.
