From Wikipedia

In Internet slang, a troll (/ˈtroʊl/, /ˈtrɒl/) is a person who sows discord on the Internet by starting arguments or upsetting people, by posting inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community (such as a newsgroup, forum, chat room, or blog) with the deliberate intent of provoking readers into an emotional response or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion.

This sense of the word troll and its associated verb trolling are associated with Internet discourse, but have been used more widely. Media attention in recent years has equated trolling with online harassment. For example, mass media has used troll to describe "a person who defaces Internet tribute sites with the aim of causing grief to families.

You just described Victor!!

I think the trio aren't so much trolls as just stupid, or too lazy to type properly on a smart phone.

Or maybe the phone is smarter than he is? I dunno. Regardless, if we all put the "hide user's posts" on him, he'll go away soon enough.

I wonder if Trish in CS can set limits on the number of posts per day by username. They need to be able to control the quantity similar to mobile phone services throttling their excess users. The Trolls in question could receive a notice that they have exceeded their daily allotment of bandwidth and can come back tomorrow when their bandwidth is restored.

That would instantly prevent megabyte hogs from overtaking the airwaves. - Similar to the FCC rules for radio and television frequencies - since there is limited bandwidth the FCC controls the amount of users and the reach of their content in order to make sure there is enough left for everyone.:-k

All because of the "idjits wherefore art thou?" thread which you started about 8 years ago, jackass.

I probably have about 70-80K posts in that one thread... Ahh, the good old days when one could exploit the double post bug on the old forum to win a bet that despite only being able to read the first 500 posts of any thread, 100k posts in a single thread wouldn't crash the site. /sniff

good times...

Back before some genius decided to add a post counter because post counts just mean sooooo much and are soooooo representative of knowledge.

I literally almost fell out of my chair laughing when they turned on post counts and I saw how many I had. It's such a wonderful mockery of the entire system, I love it.

Boo effin hoo. We need to fix a nonexistent problem because someone is butt hurt or annoyed. We must take action on every complaint. Lowest common denominator thinking by a bunch of closet liberals.
