I'm replacing my tires today that I bought 5 years ago. On a then Yokohama HTS 60,000 mile tire, I got 88,952 miles out of them. Unheard of !! The replacement tire is a HTX 70,000 mile tire, as the HTS has been phased out. Wow. The tires were not over-worn, but down to the wear-bar indicator. Not over-worn, but definitely time to replace. And, I'm paying the same price at Discount Tire, as I did 5 years ago. Might want to consider this tire for your next purchase, based on type of vehicle, of course. I drive a 2008 Honda Pilot SUV.

I've never bought tires for my 05 Honda Ody. and it has nearly 200,000 miles on it. They through in a tires for life deal that includes oem Michelins. I think life was supposed to mean 2 sets (8 tires) but the dealership changed hands and they don't have the original contract. I do have the original contract, but the copy they gave me didn't have the fine print on the back...... I've already gotten three sets at a grand or more each savings LOL.

you rarely win at these things.

As an aside the michelins we bought from Costco for the VW GTI are much better then the pirellis that were OEM and way less expensive than I could find anywhere else.

That's a hell of a deal you got TW. If I'm not mistaken, the Oddesy & Pilot are built on the same frame. I'm not sure what original tires were on them at time of purchase, but I got 48,110 out of them third set is going on at 137,070.

Drafter, Honda calls it an SUV, so I do too. It takes me to the mountains all the time over one lane mud & gravel roads deep into the national forest & I've hauled more furniture with it than I can count.

Cooper and Nokian make great tires.

If you're in a snow area go Nokians.

Mostly car tires ,not sure if they'll have a jeep tire.

Sillica compound tires, almost as good as studs.

My Grandfather always ran Cooper tires. They "are" good.

Not sure he got 90,000 miles off a set though.

LoL

So glad I found this thread, I just wouldn't know what tires to buy without consulting a discount cigar forum for advice.

There really is not much difference in cheap tires and expensive tires...

They all have to meet the Fed . Mandated standards,,,

Marketing makes the difference in price,,,

Since you have an SUV, and likely drive it normally (I.E. - not like Mario Andretti) you can get away with long tread life tires.

Put them on a sports car, and try to drive it like a sports car... no bueno. I was getting 12,000 miles on my tires, but boy were they FUN miles! Meh... got a truck now. Drive it normally. 11,000 on the stock tires and they still look new.
