DUSM Wells was shot and killed around 11:30 AM CDT in Baton Rouge while trying to apprehend a double murder suspect.

My Mom used to always worry about my oldest brother and my uncle. They were both HPD officers. When I was young I thought they had cool jobs and never worried about what could happen to them. Years later I saw my brother on TV after they had chased down some idiot what tried to escape and led them on a wild chase in Waikiki. I called him to joke about it but in a *very* serious voice he said, "Yah, and you know who was the guy who blocked his car and who had the shotgun pointed at him? Was me...I gotta get outta this chit!" It was the 2nd time he'd had a gun pointed at him and didn't want to find out what was gonna happen the 3rd time. He retired within a year of that incident.
