Best blades and shave- other than from a barber.

Definitely excellent!

I recently went to a double edge safety razor, cost a bit to get started, of course I went all out (razor, sampler pack of blades, brush, lather bowl, stand for razor and brush, and bunch of shaving creams and soaps.) I'll never go back to the disposable cartridge razors again!

^^ I have a pack of the feather blades, have yet to try them out. But seems like a lot of people have great things to say about them.

I get an excellent first shave from Feather blades, after that, they turn harsh are miserable. I changed to Astra Platinum Double Edge Safety Razor Blades, Russian, and I am much happier. They last a long time and they are much easier on my face.

Lately I have been using a razor and blades from Harry's Razors. They are have multiple blades, perform quite well and are reasonably priced.

I tried the whole "old school" thing.

Tore my face up. I get a great, close shave from the stupid Mach 3/Edge gel, and it doesn't carve my face up.

Gene I've had the opposite experience from those two brands. Go figure. I hate derby.

Best shave you will ever have. I have tried many over the years. Trust me on this one. The package is like $25 for razor handle blades, gel.

I bought an additional 6 pack of blades. 1 blade last for an entire month. the blades are open so they are easier to clean.

This is always subjective. If you have a light beard, or patches here and there, maybe. I have a full on, from cheeks to neck beard... and it's full and thick. I use a blade 4-5 times and it's done.

I can get a real close shave at 5am and my face will be smooth as butter. By 2pm you can use it as sand paper. I hate shaving. When I retire... I'm going to A) grow a beard or 😎 shave every 3rd day. I prefer to be clean shaven, but shaving sucks.

If you all get a chance check out maggardrazors.com, where I order everything from. It's small business and super nice people and fast shipping.

This has been my experience, though being retired I do not shave every day. As Macs posted, it is subjective issue.

Do you like Harry's shaving cream? Being lazy, I often shave with just hot water, but Harry's shaving cream isn't bad. For a really good shave I use the double edge with a brush and shaving soap.

If I do not use shaving cream on the down stroke AND the up stroke... it hurts.

I'll buy cream more often to be comfy. Just hot water? I'd bleed to death.

Using just hot water may splain the blade issue too. Feather blades are mega sharp compared to most brands. If you are not always using soap or cream and are not shaving regularly you'd likely be better off using a less sharp but more durable edge. Right tool for the right job.
