When I did the Jim Beam distillery tour in November the guide said all they do is add water to empty casks, shake the crap out of them for a while and it basically turns to bourbony flavored water with a little alcohol content and is then added to regular Beam white label then bottled as Devil Cut.

I agree the regular stuff isn't great, however, the small batch stuff is good. Bookers, BH, etc.

Um.... No. Not even close.

I am a big fan of Beam products but Devil's Cut is not one of them.Way over oaky and dry.It almost taste like you're drinking an oak plank covered in sawdust followed by one helluva harsh bite on the finish.

Anyone who claims to dislike all Beam products hasn't been following them lately.Their Single Barrell is damn good as is the Signature line.Beam has become one of the most innovative distillery's in America putting out quality products for a very long time.Booker's,Baker's and Basil Hayden has picked up quite the loyal fan base along the way.

All that being said they definitely missed the mark with DC IMHO.

Tried some DC a couple years ago. Didn't really care for it at all, was definitely harsh...then again, everyone's mileage varies.

If you put it on the rocks it's not too harsh for a 20 dollar bourbon imo. Obviously not comparable to any of the higher dollar bottles. But okay if you're on a budget.

When it first came out I thought it was ok but now I'm not a big fan. Wheel Jim Beam makes some good stuff.
