Arranging a tasting with a cigar roller for clients.

I've been offered a selection of these, I need to pick four to sample and I'm a bourbon-American whisky guy.

Arran 10 yr (Isle of Arran)

Arran Port Cask Finish (Arran)

Benromach 10 yr (Speyside)

Benromach Peated (Speyside)

Black Bull 12 yr Blended Scotch Whisky

Brenne French Single Malt Whisky

Cadenhead Auchentoshan 15 yr (Lowlands)

Classic Cask 40 yr

Gordon and MacPhail Linkwood 15 yr (Speyside)

Gordon and MacPhail Mortlach 25 yr (Speyside)

Kilchoman Machir Bay (Islay)

Kilchoman Pedro Ximinez Sherry Cask (Islay)

Longrow Peated (Campbeltown)

Longrow 11 yr Port Finish (Campbeltown)

Tamdhu 10 yr (Speysdie)

Tomintoul 12 yr Oloroso Sherry Finish (Speyside)

Thanks in advance!

Waldo

Wow, can't say I've tried a single one on that list. I've had a few different types but like you I am a bourbon man primarily.

And I'm a scotch drinker.

I would recommend going with the single malts over the blends. But you may include one blend to cover the odd ball that shows up.

Hopefully I did not offend.

And maybe only one peated whiskey. It can be rough for people who haven't tried it. Also I've heard that the black bull was supposed to be really good for a blend.

Don't know a ton of those brands. Kilchoman is the newest Islay distillery, and pretty damn good. I've had a bottle of the machir bay, but not the other. Themunmypaw is correct though that you may want to make sure you only have one or two islays, as the peatiness may turn some off. (I'd do two, because screw the people that can't handle peat).

I know I've had at least one of the benromach and the Arran at some point but can't remember what they tasted like. They didn't end up in my favorites list apparently

Had these four recommended by the store manager at major liquor store

Easily had 20 feet x four shelves of scotch with matching bourbons and whisky across the aisle.

He has heard of most and had quite a few on his shelves.

Arran Port Cask Finish (Arran)

Brenne French Single Malt Whisky

Gordon and MacPhail Linkwood 15 yr (Speyside)

Longrow 11 yr Port Finish (Campbeltown)

I'll probably go with these as I know squat!

Thanks guys.

My 2 cents:

Kilchoman Machir Bay (Islay)

Benromach 10 year

Longrow Peated (Campbeltown)

Tomintoul 12 yr Oloroso Sherry Finish (Speyside)

Served in that order - paired up with different cigars would help as well.

Four different regions, one peated, one sherry finished and two single malts.

The blended can be a fall back as they are standards against which others are judged.

I'm pretty sure the machir bay is also a peated scotch. Been a few months since I finished the bottle, but I think it had a nice strong peat to it.
