I have a complaint....

I really liked the Varina Farms Breakfast Blend
"3 pack samplers".... buying for 2+ yrs now...

Now all of a sudden the WRAPPER ON THESE STICKS
has become NON- EXISTENT. ..
I thought Padrons were thin wrappers ...
But now the Breakast blend caps SPLIT at just the touch of a punch...and then the body splits open and the cap disingrates
In your mouth...
WTH???
the first batches of these had WAY BETTER WRAPPER AND CAPS...

ANYBODY ELSE been featuring this lately too...??

Not "lately." I noticed this the first time I smoked them. My guess is that, when they were first introduced, they had way more time to make them properly. Now that demand has risen, the opposite is true and, as a result, the quality has suffered as they are struggling to meet the demand. Just a guess.

Another hypothesis is that it might be just another version of "bait and switch."

Bought some a year or so ago, remember not caring for them and having wrappers split. Got rid of any I had left

Comparing varina farms to padron is a bit of a stretch. I've only tried one of the breakfast blend and the wrapper felt like is made with toilet paper.

Varina farms are rebranded Padron seconds. That's what I heard anyway.

I had some around 6 months ago. The flavor did nothing for me but I didnt notice any construction issues.

I doubt it seriously. They don't look, taste or feel anything like a Padron. They are more like Puros Indios "Thirds."

That wouldn't seem very likely ... Varina uses a US grown wrapper and filler from Nicaragua, Honduras, and the DR. Last I knew, Padron was a Nicaraguan puro.

FWIW, I don't think I'd trust a US Connecticut wrapper on a cigar in this price range ... true US Shade Grown can be pretty fragile and at $6.50 MSRP for the toro, I can't believe they're using the pick of the crop. I'm not surprised by the OP's frustration with flimsy wrapper leaf.

Maybe that's while I like them for breakfast every now and then. The maduros are pretty good too, from what I remember.
But, had that wrapper problem on one.

Had the first of my taster sampler last night. Enjoyable evening, sun setting, stars and planets "coming out" (4 planets in the night sky last night BTW) but seriously cracked wrapper and exploding cigar.

Tasty, but effort to keep wrapper from disintegrating was distracting. Sweet/fruity finish so if that's not your thing, that and the wrapper issue means this isn't a cigar for you.

Everyone's taste in cigars differs. Having said that, I can't see the attraction you have for these cigars. Bought a fiver a year or so back and I was disappointed to say the least. While I try to avoid strong cigars, I have no love for the super-mild either. These make a Man o' War taste like a Mac. Totally tasteless and the construction drives you to distraction. Puros Indios would be an improvement.

I've only smoked a couple of them, but I do not remember any serious construction problems, but then I haven't had any issues with Gurks either. They are quite mild as the name suggests.

Have heard you're supposed to leave the paper wrapper on. It's supposed to help the flavor and burn.
