Smoked a great cigar, a medium cigar, and a fake Cohiba during our vacation to Atlantis, Paradise Island, Bahamas. The orange color on the Cohiba label was a touch too yellow. There were 5 rows of white boxes in the upper half of the band, my other real bands only had 4. Not sure if that proves anything. The real tipoff that the band was fake too, you can just barely make out a little bleed of the black background around the white boxes creeping into the white rectangle around the COHIBA letters, to the right of the A. In any case, once I smoked it, there was no doubt. First of all, the wrapper was too dark and rustic and rough to be real, the colors of the wrapper varied too much among the various cigars the guy showed me. The cut at the foot of the torpedo was too rough. It was too heavy to be a 2003. But it smoked ok, kind of mild, probably a Dominican stick. Worth maybe $2. The final tipoff was that he was willing to sell it to me for less than $10.
The medium cigar was a corona at the Graycliff factory. I never was all that impressed with any Graycliff I have smoked.
The great cigar....was a Torano Exodus 1959 silver band robusto on the porch of the Seafire Steakhouse, Marina Village, Atlantis. Perfect cigar porch, reminded me of Habana. Great spot to watch the fireworks and the tourists stroll by.
My advice, as others say, byo cigars when you go on vacation!
