Several of our BOTLs lost either family or good friends in the past few days. I had been saving up a bunch of Las Caliveras for the memorial to be held on the St Pauli Girl later this year. I though this would be an appropriate time to light one up in rememberance of those who I served with that did not make it home, and to add the names of friends in the service who lost friends this past week.

I can see why this cigar took top honors last year. It was smooth as a Cuban, and had a really pleasant flavor. funny though I could not detect most of the normal flavors I do in other cigars. It must have been the shot of Carolans Irish Cream I had with the first half, or the Old Balvenie 12 year I had with the second half. The only really distinguishable flavors that came through was a hint of Pretzels, and of all things, Fried Chicken. Perhaps it was the several Percosets for the knee pain I had earlier interfering?


I know the crew would have liked these for the memorial. Right now I am kind of wondering if they will be smoking them at my memorial, or fighting over the stash of cigars I have collected for the voyage.

Great cigar. Good memorial day idea. Haven't seen the 2015 yet....

The 2014 Las Calaveras are probably few and far between and hard to find now.

The 2015's are supposed to be a completely different cigar, but hopefully they will hit a home run with them also.

I read that they should become available in June.
