Vietnamese joins the list of ethnic cuisines available in Ocala now with the opening on Saturday of Pho Kim Long at 1022 S. Pine Ave.

Pho Kim Long is set to open Saturday at 1022 S. Pine Ave. in Ocala.

Rick Allen/Star-Banner

The new Vietnamese eatery, directly across the road from Aunt Fannie’s, is owned and operated by Hien Lam, who was born in Vietnam and came to the United States in 1990. He’s been in Ocala about 15 years.

Steve Gralenski, a longtime friend who’s assisting Lam with opening the restaurant, said Pho Kim Long will feature “traditional Vietnamese food” — meaning, he added, it will be fresher and cooked lighter than in most other Asian cuisines.

It also will feature pho, a traditional Vietnamese beef noodle soup, in 11 forms.

Pho Kim Long will be open every day: 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon to 8 p.m. on Sunday.

Pho is good, if it's done well.

Wife and I have one hole in the wall restaurant we go to on 8th street in National City. Awesome Pho.

The fried rice is good, but the Ocean Beach Noodle House has better fried rice... although their Pho is not as good, IMO.

I dated a Vietnamese girl for several years & she was one hell of a cook. I was crazy about that girl. She was Smoking Hot, but she was just plain crazy. Damn Gemini ...

I doubt if they're related but there's a Pho Kim Long in Las Vegas too. It was once my kids' favorite pho place while they were there. The pho and spring rolls were very good (...but the service was kinda crappy...).

Yes, my kids would purposely butcher the name to make it sound obscene. [gonzo]
