I know what you think about 2nds, so spare me the sarcasm. These went for $25.00 for a mazo of 15 which translates into $1.67 a cigar. I couldn't resist that. Lit the first one this morning on the way to work. Easy light and no burn or construction issues. For the first (almost) 1/2 of the stick I could taste a bitter undertone and I could not identify it. The rest of the cigar wasn't bad, even though it was one-dimensional. Keep in mind that this was only ONE cigar I smoked. For $1.67 a stick, not bad, not bad at all. It was certainly better than a lot of Gurkhas I have smoked as well as RPs. You can give this one to mooches without fear of being stoned later, or to noobs who don't know any better. It also could be used as an "in-between" the "good" ones in the humi. Padron, Ashton and Fuente need have no fears about this one however.

LHC Oscuro Fuerte.....................better than most, if not all, bundle cigars.........
can often be had here for $1.80/ea..................................in fivers.............
definitely worth the extra 13 pennies...............

I picked up the 90+ rated robustos a while back. The first one shortly after delivery was a bit harsh. After a 6 month rest (last month). the second try was much smoother. This topic reminds me that I should pull out another to try. Mine were picked up on auction for $ 16 (mazo of 15), so just over a buck a stick. I don't know yet if I would buy more.

Now the LH Oscuro Fuerte is a lil better IMHO. Mandoman turned me on to these about 3 years ago and they got better as they aged.

for the flavor they offer, the regular Padron and Fuente lines are VERY AVERAGE, VERY GENERIC, VERY OVER-RATED, and very over priced smokes. Their are dozens of $2 to $3per smokes at Cigar Bid who's flavor leaves both brands in the dust. And after 3 years of aging my Nicaraguan 90+Rated 2nds Toro easily beat both brands as far as flavor and price goes.

I am about half-way through the Nicaraguan 2nds now and I agree that they are very, very good. Much better than I expected. They don't beat Padron on flavor or complexity, at least in my opinion. As far as price, there is no argument. You are getting what you pay for in a Padron. As far as the Nicaraguan 2nds, you are getting far more than you are paying for. The bottom line is; if you like 'em, smoke them.

Back to the nic's, they are not a great cigar by any means and are harsh ROTT. I'm now at about 7 months and they are better and I doubt if they will make it to 3 years.

While I have yet to be disappointed by a Fuente, I also have yet to have a Padron I've felt was worth the $$$. But then I haven't had a 26 or 64. That said I can't imagine I'll be so blown away that it would justify the cost.

Whoa, there little pardner. You are more than welcome to whatever your opinion is on any cigar but trying to act like your opinion is THE ONLY RIGHT ANSWER...well, you just come off sounding a bit out of your depth. I've been smoking cigars for about 20 years now and couldn't give a rats hind end about any "cigar hype" and MY opinion is the regular maduro Padrons are far from average and blow many of the newer "boutique" or flavor-of-the-week out of the water. That could also be said of Fuente, just look at the sales numbers and longevity of the brands if you don't believe me. [frypan]

So, this isn't just MY opinion but I'm not going to tell you that you MUST admit I'm right! Who cares what anyone else thinks unless they're paying for my cigars! Get it? So, to your vastly experienced palate Padron and Fuente are VERY AVERAGE and VERY OVERPRICED. Right? Palo Prieto, Sosa Vintage...whatever? You sound a little inexperienced is all when you're comparing sub-par (sales and subjective quality) smokes like the ones you like to Padron. Just MY opinion and I'm sure you don't agree but then, I think it was you who were proclaiming empirical knowledge. We'll leave it at that. 🌫

Yes, I've had Oliva 2nds... some were alright, most were meh. There's a reason why they're 2nds, and no, it's not always cosmetic.

Rather spend an extra buck and get some RB Gensis/Habano for something cheap.

...

But to put 2nds (any 2nds) in the same breath as Padron and Fuente, laughable.
