in those years, I was 8 - 14. So while I was a hippie, I wasn't a pot-smoking, woodstock-attending, free-love-for-all, peace-sign-flashing, enemy-of-the-state-type hippie.

I WAS a barefoot, flower-in-my-long-hair, psychedelic-wearing, motown-listening-type hippie.

Are we clear? 🙂

A little bit of everything except cowboy, hippie, thug or socialite.

The last couple of years we lived in the mountains. We had a few chickens, hunted and fished a lot, but while working for the government.

Born in 74.

But I love some Jim Croce. Isn't that his era?

So far the "not born yet" are winning.....quite a humbling poll here.

I myself lived the 70-74 era in high school.....!974 was the unofficial end of the sixties era......no more Vietnam, etc. and by 75 disco was in. I had friends with older brothers and sisters and I had adopted the music and anti-establishment fervor of sixties but I was pretty harmless until I started driving in 72. By today's standard, we were not too crazy. We thought the Brady Bunch was a government plot for mind control and we formed a fictional organization known as the Anti-McDonalds League and B.U.R.P. (Beer Drinkers United in the Rejection of Plastic (Beer Mugs/Pitchers)).

's .

In 77, Punk rock and New Wave eventually saved me from the mind numbing disco era of 75-79. Ever try to walk a cop's straight line with platform shoes? Only once.

I was a goof off voted most likely to go nowhere the rest of my life. Who would have figured that I would go to college, become a responsible adult and work my butt off everyday?

We failed to turn back the tide though.....We appealed to the local pubs not to go over to the dark side.......We tried to create an illusion of a popular backlash against plastic......but as it turns out most people didn't care.

We couldn't get people to stop eating at McDonald's either.........except those in line when I went up to the counter saying I was feeling sick after eating a Big Mac, then bending over the counter making wretching sounds while secretly pouring a can of vegetable beef soup on the counter. Classic.

Well nuts - read the question all the way through.

None of the available choices apply to me, though...I was hangin' with the not-yet-born/infant/preschool set during that particular span of years.

Am I the only cowboy back in the 70's? Well, I was for the first half anyway. I was raised on a farm, worked for a large animal vet while in high school,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, but in 76, a month after high school I was in boot camp in San Antonio, and in 77 I was in Austin, TX at my first duty station,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, WAAA HOOOOOOOO, I found a different life, Yes Sir, Austin in the late 70's was amazing, it opened my eyes to a whole different way of thinking.
