#25 Archibald’s, Northport, Ala

Been there many times through out the years. Back in the day I use to take deer hind quarters to Archibald to let him do his magic with them. One almost has to be lost to find the place.

#5 Big Bob Gibson, Decatur, Ala.

Eaten there a couple of time and would give it a 👍 .

#9 Charles Vergos' Rendezvous, Memphis, Tenn.

Mrs Burner has eaten the ribs at the Rendezvous and indicated they were outstanding.

Sad to see that SoCal is a barren wasteland for ribs...buddy and I were talking about how bad the current barbecue joints are around here.

Not surprised.

The Salt Lick is fantastic.

Arthur Bryant's isn't even top 10 in KC.

Joes and jack stack are though.

That's the ticket. Our conclusion exactly. Why spend $45 bucks for a slab of dry and tasteless ribs when you can make them better for less than $10/slab?

see, now I don't believe they tried all of the bbq places. Personally, i'd love to try Macs' meat..

oh wait.. that sounded bad.

Thanks Gene. I missed that. It's about 15 miles away. I'll have to give it a try. None of the BBQ joints I grew up with (The Pit, Greece's, Rib Factory) are around anymore. Lots of chains like Lucille's, Dave's and Dickey's that serve pretend barbecue...

I grew up in SoCal and don't remember anything even close to the beef BBQ I've had in Texas or the pork BBQ in Georgia and South Carolina. Always an abundance of anything else you could want to eat, just no BBQ speciality places. We lived in Laguna Niguel a few years before we left California. We got spoiled by the number and variety of restaurants in south Orange county.

I know people that would drive a hundred miles out of their way for some Lockhart BBQ, I be one of them.I thought Black's and Smitty's was better than Kreuz.........but I am a rib guy and most BBQ places in Texas are known for their brisket, not my favorite cut of beef no matter how good yours is.My wife raved over Kreuz's brisket......I thought the ribs were good but not top notch.

Just south of Lockhart is the small town of Luling Texas........If I had a vote in this the City Market there in Luling would be my #1 pick for ribs.Cannot believe they didn't even make the list.As a matter of fact this is the only place I would opt for a brisket portion.......it's that good.

I've read about the Luling City Market and it was on a TV show some time back. I'd love to try their fair.

These votes are subjective and some small places will never be heard about. If you ever get to Matagorda County, try A&A in Bay City. Maybe not the best, but it's the last Texas beef BBQ i've had and it was really good. I used to live in Bay City, we took for granted the BBQ, until we moved to South Carolina and all they have is pork. It's good and all, but it's not like what I had in Texas unless I smoke it myself.
