After finally quitting cigarettes for the past 6 months for god knows how many years I've finally been able to tame my instinct to automatically inhale which has held me back on cigar front up until a couple of months ago. Now I can finally appreciate a smoke with a nice glass of scotch after work and I'm loving it. Being a noob I've mostly been ordering samplers to figure out my taste. I find myself leaning towards medium to full bodied so far, and a couple of my favorites at this point are brick house and Cao brazilia. Given what you've just read do you have any suggestions that you think I might like?

Both of those sound pretty straight up medium? If you like brickhouse you might like other nicaraguans. Pepin and My Father are other ones to try. Never had Brazilia but Dona flor is a Brazilian cigar i have had that was mildly interesting. Lots of choices in med/full range. I am sure others on forum will have lots of suggestions. First you must choose pancakes or waffles, weigh in on camping and seek the knowledge of the thonginator. Don't be intimidated.

Not sure why it keeps double posting. If you read this twice I swear it's on accident. Maybe my tablets bugging out. As for the forbidden words... I don't have a clue which one them would be forbidden but I guess if that's the case I'll be learning shortly.

Svengoolie is before my time. The hot topics of the purge these days have to do with any reference to any exclusive groups of customers having reciprocal benefits within the context of c-bid operations (I may already be in trouble for saying that - sorry can't say more). References to certain non-ferrous elements are particularly dangerous. On the other hand, moderators care to a lesser degree what we say about each other or about political, sexual orientation, religious, racial groups of people outside of c-bid command center.

Check the unpublished rule book of all the forbidden words and groups of words. Innuendo and satire do not help. Update 4.5.6.1 - Neither shall you spell forbidden words or concepts backwards!

Acceptable references include *********, **********,****, *******, etc.

i think the cao brazilia is a great choice and you may like some of the offerings by la gloria cubana, specifically series R

a lot really depends on your price range but, imo, there are some decent sticks in the $3-$5 and a bevy of options in the $5-$8.

You'll find that the samplers are for the most part yard gars. Don't expect to find many quality smokes in them. For the most part samplers are filled
With lower quality smokes.

Most cigar noobs, not to be confused with veteran cigar smokers who are new to the forums, buy the samplers looking to narrow down their sweet spot. Unfortunately, it doesn't really help a lot as you will find that your palette evolves.

If you haven't heard of it, try halfwheel.com (not to be confused with 1/2 man wheelrite) for some pretty good cigar reviews. In addition, I would suggest you do a bit of research on the types of leaves from the different primings and how the affect the taste as well as the different varieties and locales where they are grown. This way you when you try cigars you will better be able to tell what you like and don't like and how to find cigars based on what you do like.

If you find that you love cigars as much as the rest of us, you'll find yourself needing storage. Skip the fancy humidors and setup a coolodor or 3.

The only complication is that no one speaks English, only Spanish. I have been sampling lots of cigars lately but I am still impressed with this for what it is. I will have to check the bundles for a label again.....there was a red inked stamp of a single leaf on the bottom of the ones I looked at.
