It was a bitter Sweet day yesterday for me and my family. My dad was laid to rest at the Dallas National Cemetery with full Military Honors. It was really something special that we will never forget. My son, whom my dad and I pinned his new CPO Anchors a short couple of weeks ago was permitted the participate with the Honor Guard in his New Dress Blues.

I miss my dad so much but he is no longer sick, frail and missing my mom , who died less than a year ago.

Thank you all for the kind thoughts on a previous Thread...

RIP Dad.

The Cycle of Life is Bitter and Sweet but non of us can change it. Heaven is the Reward for good people and i am sure your Parents are there..watching over you..

This year is the 8th without my mom and 50th without my dad but i never quit talking to them almost everyday.

You can too and be assured they are listening to their beloved son..

Lost my Dad 17 years ago. He may have departed my side but he has never left me. I can hear his voice in my mind every day. The memories still make me laugh, remind me to always do the right thing, and sometimes in quite moments, shed a tear. And that is okay because that is what great parents do for their children.

Prayers for you Bill as you move forward just as your father would want you to. Carry on Sir. He will always be proud of you. Forever. Continue the legacy of being a strong father to your son.

And if you should need assistance, we are always here to listen, help or advise.

My uncle Mike passed away five years ago. It was the first funeral I had ever attended that gave military honors. I was moved to deep tears. It was amazing, dignified, and added a level of nobility to the man I was unaware of.

Godspeed to your father, Bill.

Ditto what Jack and Eric said, they are watching and with you always.

The hole can't be filled in your heart, but the memories and time spent are always a salve.
